President Tinubu extends condolences on death of Iranian president

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences following the tragic demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who perished in a helicopter crash on Sunday. The news of Raisi’s passing was confirmed by local media outlets.

In a statement released on Monday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He mourned the loss of President Raisi, describing him as a dedicated leader committed to the advancement of Iran.

President Tinubu also extended his condolences to the bereaved families affected by this distressing tragedy. He offered prayers for the ongoing peace, stability, and prosperity of the Iranian nation during this challenging time.

Following President Raisi’s untimely demise, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, has appointed Vice President Mohammad Mokhber as the country’s acting president with immediate effect. Mokhber will serve as interim president until further notice, pledging to uphold the responsibilities entrusted to him in continuation of President Raisi’s vision.

The sudden loss of President Ebrahim Raisi and his Minister of Foreign Affairs in the helicopter crash has cast a somber shadow over Iran, prompting expressions of condolences and solidarity from leaders around the world.
