NYSC corps member to receive N77,000 monthly allowance starting March 2025

Date:

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members across Nigeria are set to receive a significant increase in their monthly allowance, rising to N77,000, effective March 2025, announced Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu.

The announcement, conveyed through a statement by Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, reassured corps members of the Federal Government’s commitment to their welfare. This increase directly aligns with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, which raised the national minimum wage to N70,000.

“With effect from March, you are going to receive the sum of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance,” General Nafiu stated, emphasizing the NYSC’s reliable record-keeping and assuring prompt payment. “The Nation and the Scheme appreciate you.”

Despite the approved budget, corps members continued to receive the previous N33,000 stipend as of February 2025. General Nafiu addressed this delay, urging corps members to remain calm, disciplined, and focused on their national duties. He reiterated the NYSC’s commitment to prompt payment and acknowledged the scheme’s vital role in fostering national unity.

“NYSC plays a crucial role in fostering national unity by exposing young graduates to different cultures and traditions across the country,” General Nafiu stated, calling for continued support for the scheme’s objectives.

Corps Member Zaka Deborah Alheri, speaking on behalf of her colleagues at the Garki Zone, expressed gratitude to the Director-General for his dedication to implementing the increased allowance and acknowledged the NYSC leadership’s commitment to their well-being.
