Award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, has confirmed that she has officially relocated from Nigeria to New York City, marking a new chapter in her rapidly rising global music career.
The 23-year-old star revealed the move during an interview on Hot 93.7FM’s Buck N Regg, where she disclosed that she settled permanently in the U.S. less than two months ago.
According to the Rush crooner, relocating to New York felt natural because of the city’s energy and strong Nigerian community.
“I live in New York now, I officially moved in less than two months ago,” she said. “I’m always in New York regardless — it reminds me so much of Lagos. There are many Nigerians here, so it feels like home.”

Ayra Starr explained that the decision wasn’t immediate but gradually became clear during her visits for work.
“I was skeptical about moving here,” she added. “I remember being on stage one day and feeling like maybe New York is where I need to be. I really like it here.”
The singer also emphasized that despite the relocation, her goals remain clear and intentional.
“I know why I am here. I know my priorities. And I’m here for a good time,” she said.
Ayra Starr’s move comes as she continues her breakout global run, following the success of her sophomore album and back-to-back international performances.
