Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy is poised to make history once again as the first African artist to perform live at the Grammys award show, according to an announcement made on January 22, 2024.
This follows his groundbreaking achievement in 2021 when he became the first Nigerian artist to win a Grammy, clinching the Best Global Album award for ‘Twice As Tall.’
The 2024 Grammys, scheduled for February 5, holds even more significance for Burna Boy as he secures four nominations, setting a Nigerian record for the most Grammy nominations in a single year. Notably, he is nominated in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for his single ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage, marking him as the first Nigerian lead artist nominated outside of the global categories.

The Recording Academy has confirmed Burna Boy’s inclusion in the lineup of performers, alongside notable artists like Luke Combs and Travis Scott, joining previously announced acts such as Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Burna Boy, often acclaimed as the African Giant, is on the verge of another historic night at the Grammys with nominations in four categories: Best Global Music Album (‘I Told Them’), Best African Music Performance (‘City Boys’), Best Global Music Performance (‘Alone’), and the aforementioned Best Melodic Rap Performance (‘Sittin’ on Top of the World’). The global recognition reflects his continued impact on the international music scene, solidifying his status as a trailblazer in the industry.**
