Musa vows to restore peace

Date:

Nigeria’s newly confirmed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has assured citizens that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is determined to restore peace nationwide and make the country safe enough for Nigerians to “sleep with their eyes closed.”

Speaking after a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Musa said security remains at the heart of the administration’s agenda.

“I just met Mr. President, and he reiterated his mind on the aspect that we must make sure that Nigeria is secured,” he said. “Nigerians should go back and sleep with their eyes closed, go back to their farms, schools open without being molested. Everyone being carried together to make sure that Nigeria continues to grow in line with the renewed programme of Mr. President.”

In a show of support, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, praised the choice of General Musa, saying he has the competence and resolve to deliver on the security mandate.

“Everybody knows what the problem is. We just need restoration of normalcy in this country by any means possible. And I think that this job is in very good hands,” Kukah stated.

He added that the President’s renewed focus on security signals a promising shift:
“Whatever it takes to get this mess under control. These guys need to be flushed out. Normalcy needs to return to our country. Laughter and joy have to come back to Nigeria within the shortest time possible. All we do is pray for the best.”

General Musa’s assurance and Kukah’s endorsement come as Nigerians continue to demand urgent, decisive action to end insecurity across the nation.
