In response to the devastation caused by the 2023 flood in several communities across Kosofe, Agboyi-Ketu, and Ikosi-Isheri, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, has fulfilled his promise to provide relief to affected residents. A total of 150 bags of 50kg rice were distributed to constituents impacted by the flood.
According to the statement released by Enitan Olukotun, Media Aide to the senator, the distribution covered various affected communities, including Odo-Ogun, Ajegunle, Owode-Elede, Osho-Ogun, and Agboyi-town under Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Additionally, residents of Agiliti 2, Maidan, Orisha/Isheri, Ajegunle/Idera/Kiokio, Isheri-North, and Akinpelu communities in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA received rice assistance. In Kosofe Local Government Area, residents of Oworo coastal area, Ogudu, Ojota, and Mende areas, who were adversely impacted by the floods, also received rice aid.

The distribution was made possible through collaboration between Senator Abiru’s office, the three Local Government Authorities, community and political leaders, and the Community Development Committee (CDC). This humanitarian intervention is part of Senator Abiru’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable members of society. Additionally, his quarterly Food Packs Programme benefits thousands of households across the 16 LGAs/LCDAs in the Lagos East Senatorial District.
Representing Senator Abiru, Otunba Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, PhD, facilitated the handover of rice to the council chairmen, including Hon. Dele Oshinowo (Agboyi-Ketu), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada (Ikosi-Isheri), and Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe (Kosofe LGA). The council chairmen expressed gratitude to Senator Abiru for his empathy and kindness, particularly during this challenging economic period.
This gesture underscores Senator Abiru’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents and demonstrates his dedication to providing timely assistance in times of need.
