The Federal Government is preparing to unveil a new education curriculum for primary schools, designed to transform Nigeria’s basic education system by integrating moral values alongside academic skills.
According to the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Sununu, the revised curriculum will be launched on Thursday during the National Council of Education (NCE) meeting.
During the flag-off event for teacher training and the launch of sensitisation materials on moral reorientation, held in Abuja and organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Sununu highlighted that the updated curriculum aims to address societal reorientation and foster Nigeria’s social regeneration.
“The new curriculum will instill values that address our orientation needs and foster social regeneration. Our goal is to nurture a generation of learners who are not only academically competent but also emotionally intelligent, socially responsible, and morally upright,” Dr. Sununu said.

Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, Executive Secretary of UBEC, also stressed the significance of the new curriculum, stating that it will help shape responsible citizens and address Nigeria’s learning crisis. He added that instilling moral values in students is critical for building a responsive and responsible society.
