Hearn hints at Joshua-Dubois rematch in Saudi Arabia

Date:

Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, has hinted that a potential rematch between Joshua and Daniel Dubois could take place in Saudi Arabia, rather than Wembley Stadium, early next year.

Although the initial bout between the two drew a record-breaking crowd at Wembley, Hearn believes Riyadh is the more likely location due to the timing of the region’s Riyadh Season, which runs from October to March.

Hearn confirmed that while Joshua is inclined to take the rematch, the final decision will be made in the coming weeks. “I think AJ will always lean towards the rematch,” Hearn said, recalling Joshua’s previous immediate rematches against Andy Ruiz and Oleksandr Usyk. The promoter also noted that if Joshua rematches Dubois, it could offer a direct shot at the world heavyweight title.

However, Hearn cautioned that no decision has been made yet, with Joshua and his team weighing their options. A rematch with Dubois would align with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s vision of making the bout part of Riyadh Season.

The prospect of waiting for the outcome of the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight in December also looms, but Hearn warned that injuries or delays could push a potential clash back, leaving Joshua inactive for too long.

As for Joshua’s training camp, Hearn emphasized that there are no planned changes despite his recent defeat, praising Dubois’ performance and Joshua’s preparation.
