Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi on Tuesday presented a ₦901.8 billion Appropriation Bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, describing it as a bold roadmap to accelerate infrastructure development, boost education, strengthen job creation and secure prosperity for residents.
The budget presentation, held at the Assembly complex in Dutse, drew a large audience including top government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, civil society groups and representatives of community organisations.
Presenting the document, Namadi said the proposal — themed “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II” — reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

“This ₦901.8 billion blueprint isn’t just numbers — it’s our roadmap to transform Jigawa through infrastructure, education, and jobs, ensuring no one is left behind,” the governor said.
He added that agriculture, education and security remain top priorities, calling on all stakeholders to support full implementation.
The budget proposes ₦693.4 billion for capital expenditure, representing 76.9% of the total spending plan, while ₦208.4 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenses. Education and health sectors jointly account for more than ₦310 billion of the proposal, underscoring government investment in human capital and social welfare.
Responding after the presentation, Speaker of the State Assembly Hon. Haruna Dangyatim pledged swift and thorough legislative scrutiny of the bill.
“The budget is comprehensive and people-focused. We’ll scrutinise it diligently and ensure a swift passage for Jigawa’s brighter future,” he said.
Dangyatim commended the executive arm for its collaboration with the legislature, describing the partnership as crucial to delivering development and impactful governance.
