The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has taken action by demolishing a multimillion naira duplex situated on plot 226 in Wuse Zone 6.
The building, constructed on unapproved land, was brought down on Monday in line with the directorate’s commitment to enforcing development rules and regulations.
Mr. Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of the Department of Development Control, confirmed this development. Galadima emphasized that the duplex had been erected in defiance of numerous warnings. He explained that an extensive investigation had been carried out to determine the true owner of the plot, as conflicting claims had been presented by various parties.
Upon conducting a thorough investigation, it was discovered that the developer was not the legitimate owner of the plot. Galadima stated, “We demolished the duplex because somebody built it on someone else’s land without valid title and building plan approval.”
He clarified that the FCT Administration is resolute in adhering to established development guidelines, regardless of the status of the defaulting developer. Galadima highlighted, “We allowed the building to this stage before demolishing it because we had to follow all due processes.”
The FCTA’s action underscores its commitment to maintaining the integrity of land use and development within the Federal Capital Territory, as well as ensuring compliance with established regulations.
