NLC Gives Ultimatum for Police Withdrawal from NURTW Secretariat

Date:

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued an ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, demanding the immediate withdrawal of police operatives from the National Secretariat of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Abuja.

The NLC has given a 48-hour deadline for the police to vacate the premises.

This announcement was made on Monday in a communique released following an emergency meeting of the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the NLC.

In addition, the NLC called on President Bola Tinubu to take swift action to clear his name, as his reputation has been linked to the incident where certain individuals, backed by security personnel, have forcefully taken control of the NURTW’s secretariat.

Previously, the leadership of the NURTW had expressed concerns about potential plans to attack their secretariat in Abuja.
