President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received the official affirmation of his victory by Nigeria’s Supreme Court. In a lead judgment delivered by Justice John Okoro, all seven petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party were dismissed.
Justice Okoro rejected the appeals to introduce fresh evidence documents, including the 25 percent Federal Capital Territory votes and claims of irregularities during the February 25 presidential election. The Supreme Court upheld the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Court, which had confirmed President Tinubu’s election victory on September 6.
All the Supreme Court justices, including Uwani Abba-Aji, Lawal Garba, Ibrahim Saulawa, Adamu Jauro, Abubakar Tijjani, and Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, unanimously supported the lead judgment read by Justice Inyang Okoro.

Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi had challenged the Tribunal’s judgment that upheld President Tinubu’s victory and sought to set aside the Presidential Election Petition Court’s September 6 decision. They had alleged election irregularities and raised questions about President Tinubu’s eligibility and academic records.
The Supreme Court’s ruling affirms President Tinubu’s election victory and dismisses all the petitions brought by the opposition. This decision brings clarity to the outcome of the presidential election and reaffirms President Tinubu’s position as the country’s leader.
