The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Moji Adeyeye, expressed concerns about some Nigerians prioritizing quick financial gains over the health and safety of unsuspecting citizens.
Adeyeye made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday.
This statement from the DG follows recent actions taken by NAFDAC in Abia State where fake wine factories were discovered, leading to the shutdown of markets involved in the distribution of these counterfeit products.
Adeyeye highlighted the unfortunate reality of individuals prioritizing monetary gain over the well-being of fellow citizens. She emphasized NAFDAC’s ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of fake products in the country.

Regarding the agency’s strategies to address this issue, Adeyeye explained, “NAFDAC works tirelessly; that is why we are actively investigating and eradicating these harmful products.” She further elaborated on NAFDAC’s proactive approach, stating, “We conduct routine market surveillance, ensuring that only registered products are available on the shelves.”
This effort aims to ensure that consumers have access to safe and approved products while cracking down on unscrupulous individuals who endanger public health for monetary gain.
