Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage headline spectacular greater Lagos countdown 2025

Lagosians welcomed 2025 in grand style as Nigerian music icons Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Tiwa Savage delivered electrifying performances at the Greater Lagos Countdown held at the historic Tafawa Balewa Square.

The annual end-of-year celebration, organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, united thousands in a night of unforgettable entertainment and communal joy.

The event featured a star-studded lineup, including Olamide, Adewale Ayuba, Runtown, Niniola, BNXN, Seyi Vibez, Nice, and more, making it a musical feast for fans.

Wizkid captivated the audience with his hit tracks, sparking singalongs and cheers, while Burna Boy brought his high-octane energy to the stage with a performance that echoed his global Afrobeats dominance. Tiwa Savage, the Queen of Afrobeats, enthralled the crowd with her sultry vocals and dynamic stage presence, leaving fans in awe.

Other highlights included Niniola’s soulful performance, Fuji maestro Adewale Ayuba’s nostalgic set featuring classics like “Ejo” and “Ijo Fuji,” and Nice’s revival of the “Alapomeji” vibes.

Adding a dose of humor to the evening, comedian Gbenga Adeyinka taught Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu the viral ‘Oblee’ dance moves, drawing cheers from the delighted crowd.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, addressing the audience, expressed gratitude to Lagosians for their resilience throughout 2024 and promised a brighter 2025 for all.

“2024 was a year of tremendous opportunities for our youth, and you demonstrated the resilience that makes you true Lagosians. As we step into 2025, I wish for the very best for each of you,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor praised the Greater Lagos Countdown for its role in uniting residents across the state and reiterated his commitment to fostering growth and inclusivity in the new year.

The Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 wasn’t limited to Tafawa Balewa Square; similar celebrations took place simultaneously in the state’s five divisions, ensuring that every Lagosian could partake in the festivities.

As fireworks lit up the Lagos skyline at midnight, the countdown cemented its status as one of Nigeria’s most anticipated New Year celebrations, embodying the spirit of unity, hope, and resilience that defines Lagos.
