The Chairman of the Kano Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, has obtained a court order preventing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and other entities from interrogating him.
The Kano State High Court issued the order, effectively barring these agencies from interfering with the affairs of the anti-graft commission. This legal action came after the EFCC and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) sent letters to the state’s anti-corruption commission requesting investigations into its activities and Chairman Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.
The court order, granted on Monday by Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu, serves as an interim injunction. It restrains the mentioned respondents, including their agents, staff, and representatives, from inviting, threatening, arresting, or interfering in any manner with the staff or individuals associated with the plaintiffs, pending the resolution of the originating motion.
The court has scheduled the hearing for the originating motion on September 25, 2023.
